Epilepsy

What is Epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a disease characterized by recurrent afebrile seizures that can be seen at any age and gender. It is more common in young children and the elderly. In childhood, there are many different behavioral and movement disorders that are confused with epileptic seizures and sometimes lead to misdiagnosis. Before epilepsy treatment, it should be ensured that the diagnosis is correct. In the diagnosis of epilepsy, clinical observation of the seizure, electroencephalography (EEG) findings, or video recordings taken by the family make important contributions to the diagnosis. With correct diagnosis and correct treatment, 70-80% of childhood epilepsies can be successfully treated.
