It is a neurodevelopmental difference characterized by social interaction difficulties, communication challenges, and repetitive behaviors. If the child does not make eye contact with others, does not look when you call their name, acts as if they do not hear what is being said, is behind their peers in speech, does not point with their finger to show what they want, does not know how to play with toys, is uninterested in games that peers play, is hyperactive, and makes unusual movements such as spinning or lining up objects, they should be evaluated for autism.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a disorder characterized by hyperactivity, short attention span, and impulsivity. ADHD, one of the most common childhood disorders, is usually noticed after the start of school. These are children who cannot sit still, have compatibility problems with friends, are not aware of dangers and therefore can harm themselves, and act without thinking. Since they cannot concentrate sufficiently, they cannot sit at a desk for long periods while studying. For this reason, even if their intelligence level is sufficient, their academic success may be low. If families and teachers observe many of the above symptoms in a child, they should be evaluated in detail by a specialist.
It is an inventory applied for the developmental evaluation of children between 0-6 years of age. Children's language development, mental skills, fine motor development, gross motor development, social development, and self-care skills are examined and scored individually. This evaluation is carried out in an environment where the mother, father, and child are together, if possible.
In addition to questions directed to the parents by the practitioner, the child is also observed. Every skill the child possesses is evaluated step by step.
The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children is the most current and comprehensive intelligence test applied worldwide and in Turkey. It is a clinical assessment tool that measures the cognitive ability and multifaceted skills of individuals between 6 years 0 months and 16 years 11 months. It provides information not only about mental skills but also about situations such as learning difficulties, attention deficit, and hyperactivity.
